The government’s six-point plan explained

 1 Terrorise the nation for six months, never giving any positive news or any perspective on Covid figures.

2 See the economy plunge into the gutter.


3 Take incredibly expensive measures (eg furlough, Eat Out To Help Out) to alleviate the gargantuan problems the scare campaign has created.


4 See the national debt soar.


5 Either raise taxes or slash public spending (probably the former) to furnish this, and further enervate the economy.


6 Stand back and see how you’ve reduced one of the most successful countries in the world to ashes.

Is this the death of cinema?

2023’s Oscars ceremony was significant, as it may well have been the last time we see its kind. Because like the terrible idea to expand the football World Cup to 48 teams next time round, the rules are being changed by the Academy. Is this why Britain is failing?

I work for a company in England that has offices in different countries, including the US. It is a media company. I suspect it’s a fairly typical medium-sized corporation. In this post I will run down some of the things it has done in 2024 – though I could have gone further back (things started changing around 2018, with HR becoming ‘People & Culture’ and then got turbo-charged from 2020 onwards). I’m not saying that all of these things are bad things. Some are quite nice. They are not all ‘woke’. But many are.
